MSC (PSYCHOLOGY), BSC APPLIED PSYCHOLOGY
Mr Philip Ang is a psychologist in private practice. He has been in the helping profession since mid 90s. Over the last 20 years, he has coached, trained and counselled premarital couples, parents of young children, adolescents with emotional regulation issues, and adults with other life challenging issues.
While Phil uses solution-oriented and cognitive behavioural approaches to help others deal with their issues, he also believes in the importance of encouraging them to discover a purposeful living.
Philip Ang graduated with Bachelor of Social Science degree in Applied Psychology from the University of Western Sydney (currently known as Western Sydney University). Besides having obtained his Master of Science degree in Psychology from California Southern University, he is also a certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, certified Autogenic Training Practitioner, and certified Tobacco Cessation Specialist.
He also received the advanced level training in Ericksonian Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, and is a licensed administrator in NCCQ couple’s inventory. He believes in engaging people from the heart before the mind, and he loves to incorporate experiential components in his training, coaching and counseling sessions.
Philip had the privilege of working together with one of his former psychology Professor Edward Hoffman, Ph.D., in the gathering of research data for his book, “Youthful Peak-Experiences in Cross Culture Perspective: Implications for Educators and Counselor” which was published in fall 2008.
Philip is blissfully married to his lovely wife and has two lovely school-going children. Being deeply rooted in his Christian faith, he takes parenting and his marriage as a sacred responsibility, and he enjoys the process of being a father in co-raising his children with his wife in this generation. His fundamental philosophy in life is about “learning to keep the main thing the main thing”.
