Dr Yang Linqi is a Paediatrician with a special interest in Paediatric Cardiology. She is currently one of the anchor doctors at Thomson Paediatric Centre. She is also a visiting specialist at Khoo Teck Puat-National University Children’s Medical Institute (KTP-NUCMI), National University Hospital, Singapore.
Dr Yang graduated from National University of Singapore and obtained her post-graduate specialist qualification from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, UK. She has completed attachments in Foetal Echocardiography in Sick Kids Hospital, Toronto and Ramathibodi Hospital, Bangkok. She is specialist accredited with the Specialist Accreditation Board (Ministry of Health).
While in NUH, Dr Yang took care of patients from the General Paediatric, Paediatric Cardiology, as well as Paediatric High Dependency units. Her clinical practice involved all aspects of Paediatric Cardiology including the management of complex congenital and acquired heart conditions in the outpatient setting as well as critical post-operative patients in the intensive care setting.
A big part of her career involves educating her medical students, junior doctors and nurses. As a tutor in Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS), she continues to teach medical simulation sessions and Paediatric Advance Life Support courses. In 2014, she was awarded the NUH Young Clinician Mentor award in recognition of her excellent work in teaching and her ability to guide and inspire her students.
Dr Yang has also published multiple research papers in peer-reviewed medical journals and presented in conferences both locally and overseas. Her research interests are in Fetal Cardiology, Kawasaki Disease and Interventional Cardiology.
Believing in giving back to the society, she has been involved in medical mission trips in Cambodia to provide medical care and education to the rural population. Dr Yang is a strong advocate for early health screening and disease prevention.
As a mother of two, she strongly believes in the strength of a lovely relationship between parents and their children. Her philosophy in doctoring is one that is focused on building strong relationships with her patients and their families. She feels privileged to be able to grow together with her little patients and enjoys supporting them and their families with professional advice and care.
