Dr Tang Kok Kee provides diagnosis and management of a wide spectrum of neurosurgical conditions involving cranial, spinal, cerebrovascular, peripheral nerve, and microsurgery for both children and adults.
His clinic offers treatment of cerebral aneurysms, carotid stenosis, stroke, intervertebral disc herniations, brain and spinal cord tumors, peripheral nerve entrapment, hydrocephalus, myelomeningocele, spasticity, intractable epilepsy, and brain surgery.
The clinic also provides stereotactic surgery, spinal fixation for trauma or metastasis, microsurgery, laser surgery, interstitial radiotherapy, chemotherapy, deep brain stimulation, minimally invasive spine surgery, pituitary surgery and Gamma Knife® radiosurgery.
Training & Academic Background
Dr Tang is qualified as a surgeon in 1994. From 1997 to 2000, he was trained in neurosurgery under the various consultants neurosurgeons, including the reknowned Dr Graham Flint of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, England, and the late pediatric neurosurgeon, Dr Anthony Hockley of the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Dr Flint had taken over the neurosurgical chair from Dr Bernard Williams. Both of them are pioneers in the field of hydrocephalus. From 1997 to 2000, his attachment allowed a wide exposure to adult as well as childhood neurosurgical problems.
In 2003, he was awarded Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Fellowship Award for Paediatric Neurosurgery to the Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Oakland, California, USA. His supervisor was Professor Dachling Pang a renowned authority on spinal problems and hydrocephalus.
In 2004, he became a Co-investigator to a Biomedical Research Council (BMRC), Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) $312,700.00 research grant entitled “Non-Invasive Interrogation of Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus: A Prospective Study Correlating Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Clinical Findings.” The Principle Investigator for this project is Dr Samuel ES Ng and the research was published in a reputable MR journal.
