Dr. Jessie Koh holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from UQ Australia, a Master of Clinical Psychology, a Post-Graduate Psychology, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Dr. Koh provides psychotherapy and counselling for individual adults and couples seeking professional guidance to overcome behavioural or emotional challenges that people commonly experience. She works with adults who have a particularly unique problem at any stage in life that is impacting on their quality of life by effecting general health and wellbeing, relationships, work, studies, or social activities. Dr. Koh completed the world-renowned International Coach Federation (ICF) approved Associate & Professional Coach Levels program. Thus, in addition to being a life coach, she also utilizes executive or business coaching to provide additional facilitating support for executives and leaders to solve their work challenges through developing psychological understanding of themselves and their organisations.
Furthermore, Dr. Koh joins the MSF-HK’s Psychosocial Support Referral Network for the region Singapore/Malaysia, which aims to provide psychological care to returned MSF field volunteers who have served in humanitarian missions abroad. Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), also known as Doctors Without Borders, is an international medical-humanitarian NGO.
Besides clinical work, Dr. Koh is a visiting lecturer at the local Singapore university where she shares her expertise with students on enhancing mental health wellness including mindfulness experiential workshops. Dr. Koh serves on the advisory board of a non-profit sports management consultancy promoting local and international athletes with the objective to inspire youth and to develop an inclusive sporting culture in Singapore.
Her postgraduate training experience extended to both the private practice and medical/psychiatric facilities including Raffles Hospital Singapore and The Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital (RBWH) Australia. At the Australian university clinic, she trained and supervised doctorate students of Clinical Psychology & Clinical Geropsychology in the mental health program for the community.
Using a practice approach that is both evidence-based and client-driven, Dr. Koh strives to draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy (SFT), motivational-interviewing (MI), professional coaching, and integration of research-based mindfulness into her work. Alongside her strong interest in health psychology and working with individuals through emotional, physical, and challenging life events, Dr. Koh has considerable experience in working on cross-cultural psychology and cultural adjustment issues.
With over 25 years of work experience, Dr. Koh spent more than a decade in Germany and 5 years in the Middle East predominantly in areas of corporate management, organisational and people development, and coaching. Dr. Koh, a Singaporean Chinese, born and raised in Singapore speaks English, Mandarin, German, and local Chinese dialects.
