Dr Daphne Han is Medical Director and Consultant Ophthalmologist at SMG Vision Centre, Gleneagles Hospital, and Consultant Ophthalmologist at The Lasik Surgery Clinic, Paragon. She is highly skilled in an extensive range of refractive surgery techniques: ReLEx® SMILE, LASIK, LASIK-EXTRA, Advanced Surface Ablation and Implantable Contact Lens (ICL).

Apart from her refractive work, Dr Han performs microincision cataract with lens implant surgery, manages complex cataract cases and general eye diseases such as age-related macula degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease and myopia management.

Dr Han was previously Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) Cataract and Comprehensive Ophthalmology and Laser Vision Centre, and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS. She was a trainer in cataract surgery and LASIK to fellow doctors. She authored scientific articles and textbooks, and is an invited speaker at meetings, an examiner and reviewer for professional journals.

Dr Han graduated from the University of Melbourne. Thereafter, she trained in several hospitals in England including at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. She was first choice candidate for London’s King’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital Ophthalmology rotations. She then joined SNEC where she practiced for more than 14 years. She was awarded Singapore Health quality service and long service awards.

She understudied Professor Theo Seiler, inventor of corneal cross-linking and world renowned ophthalmologist at the Institute of Refractive and Ophthalmic Surgery (IROC), Zurich. She subsequently attended Cincinnati Eye Institute, USA for an Observership in Cataracts and Anterior Segment Reconstruction with Dr Robert Osher and Dr Michael Snyder.

Dr Han was previously editor of student publications at Raffles Girls’ Secondary School and at university. She plays the piano, loves the great outdoors and enjoys cycling and skiing.
