Dr Ho is an accredited Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgeon. Since his graduation from the medical faculty at the National University of Singapore in 1994, Dr Ho has accumulated more than 15 years of clinical experience.
He completed the Joint Specialty Fellowship in General Surgery examination in 2003. Subsequently, he was awarded 2 scholarships for his subspecialty development. The first was the Health Manpower Development Programme scholarship to pursue a clinical fellowship in surgical oncology with a special emphasis on pancreatic surgery and pancreatic cancers, especially radical pancreatic resection for cancers and other complex pancreatic conditions. This was at the Surgical Clinic of the University of Heidelberg in Germany. This was followed by the TTSH scholarship to take up a clinical fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery with the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in Australia.
Before joining the private sector, Dr Ho was a consultant surgeon with the Department of General Surgery and the Digestive Disease Center at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He was also the Director of the Endoscopy Center, and served as the Deputy Director of the Centre for Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery.
Dr Ho has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. He is frequently invited to present at regional and international conferences. Dr Ho has also perfromed live surgery in China and Indonesia, teaching laparoscopic surgery to local doctors. Dr Ho’s other interest is surgical education. He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. He is also a Reviewer for the Singapore Medical Journal.
What strikes most people is Dr Ho’s youthful look. Although already in his 40s, Dr Ho has often been mistaken to be in his 30s. He attribute his youthful look to regular exercises, watching comedies and spending his free time with his teenage son and daughter. Surgery also keeps his mind young. With the rapid advancements in the field of surgery, Dr Ho ensures that he keeps abreast with new developments so as to ensure that his patients receive the best and most updated mode of treatment. Dr Ho’s personal mission is to be a surgeon who delivers excellent surgical service with purity of intent and compassion for his patients
EDUCATION AND FELLOWSHIP
Dr Ho graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1994. He started his surgical training after his National Service. He completed his specialty training in General Surgery in 2003 having obtained the qualifications of FRCS (Edin), FRCS (Glasg), M.Med (Surgery) and FRCSEd (Gen) along the way.
He was admitted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, in 2005.
